We're Garrett and Kyla — a teacher and an engineer. We built StayPut for the teachers, coaches, and youth leaders who lose sleep worrying about their students on overnight trips, because one of us was that teacher.

DECA conferences, band competitions, church retreats, summer camps, away games — overnight trips are some of the most memorable experiences students will have. They build friendships, confidence, and independence.
The hardest part is the nights
For the adults responsible, curfew time brings a different kind of stress. Are all the doors staying closed? Is everyone where they should be? Most chaperones resort to setting alarms, doing hallway patrols, or just not sleeping at all.
Built for hotel environments
So we built a reliable way for chaperones to know if a door opens after curfew. Compact sensors attach with removable adhesive — no damage, no tools. A gateway hub connects over LTE worldwide, so there's no reliance on hotel Wi-Fi. Setup takes minutes.
Alerts that don't go unnoticed
When something happens, StayPut sends push notifications, email, and SMS to the right chaperones. Every alert is logged so you have a complete record for documentation and reporting.
Meet the founders
Hi, we're Garrett & Kyla.
Kyla is a high school DECA teacher. Before her first overnight trip, she asked veteran teachers how they kept students in their rooms after curfew. The only answer she got was blue painter's tape on the doors and it came with stories of students peeling it off as a prank.
She came home and said there had to be a better way. Garrett, an electrical engineer, agreed and started working on what ultimately became StayPut. We tested StayPut on three real school trips in three states before opening it up to everyone.
We're a husband-and-wife team, and StayPut is still just us; writing the software, answering support requests, and shipping out orders, with our dogs supervising from under the desk.
